School Talks and Workshops for Kids

Speaking to students is one of my favourite parts of the job! I have presented to groups of all sizes with audiences ranging from preschoolers to teenagers. I can tailor my talks or workshops to complement whatever you are currently learning about or anything your students might want to know more about. Generally, my talks and workshops revolve around:

• Being an author. What it's like being an author, how I wrote my books and got them published and other inside secrets about the world of children's  publishing.

• Ideas. Where ideas come from, where to find them and how do you know if you've got a good one.

• The foundations of creative writing. The essential tools and skills you need to create a good story and how to hone these.

• Fiction vs non-fiction. Which one makes for interesting stories? (Spoiler alert: they both do!)

• Creating characters. Why memorable characters are so important and how to create them.
